Apple has partnered with Jio to offer RCS (Rich Communication Services) messaging on iPhones in India. With this new service, Jio users will be able to send high-resolution media, similar to iMessage, with the “blue tick” feature, without any additional charges.
What is RCS?
RCS is a modern messaging protocol that enhances traditional SMS. It allows sending high-resolution images, videos, read receipts, typing indicators, and group chats over the internet, similar to WhatsApp or iMessage. Google first enabled RCS in 2019, and now Apple is adopting it in collaboration with Jio.
