Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is strengthening its long-term strategy by expanding Pixel 10 manufacturing in India, preparing for exports, and stepping deeper into artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
Scaling Pixel 10 Production in India
Alphabet is in advanced talks with its current Indian partners, Foxconn and Dixon Technologies, while also considering new suppliers like Micromax-owned Bhagwati Products. This move aims to diversify supply chains away from Taiwan and reduce risks associated with US tariffs.
By manufacturing locally, Alphabet has already avoided 16.5% import duties, making Pixel smartphones more price-competitive against Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy devices. The company has also expanded its retail presence in India, partnering with Reliance Digital, Croma, Sangeetha Mobiles, Poorvika, and over 2,000 smaller outlets.
India as a Global Export Hub
Industry experts suggest India could become a key export hub for Pixel devices, mirroring Apple’s iPhone export model. While Alphabet hasn’t revealed target markets, the United States is expected to be a major destination. Such a move would strengthen Alphabet’s global distribution and improve cost efficiency.
AI Ambitions with Vast Data
Alongside smartphones, Alphabet is preparing to invest in Vast Data, a New York-based AI infrastructure company valued at nearly $30 billion. Vast Data provides storage solutions for large-scale AI data centres, enabling efficient data flow across GPUs, including those from Nvidia. Its clients include Elon Musk’s xAI and CoreWeave.
Alphabet’s growth fund, CapitalG, is expected to join Nvidia and other investors in the funding round. This deal would give Alphabet a stake in a key enabler of the AI industry.
Building the Future
By boosting Pixel 10 production in India and investing in AI infrastructure globally, Alphabet is executing a dual strategy: strengthening its hardware presence in emerging markets while ensuring leadership in the fast-growing AI ecosystem.
