Google Pixel 10 Pro XL Review: Smarter, Faster, and AI-Powered

The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is an evolutionary update over its predecessor, the Pixel 9 Pro XL. While it may appear similar in design and dimensions, it brings notable upgrades, most importantly the new Tensor G5 chipset and advanced AI features, making it one of the best Android smartphones currently available.

Design and Build Quality

The Pixel 10 Pro XL retains the premium look and feel of last year’s model. Its metal frame and soft-touch glass back give it a high-end feel, complemented by an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Despite being a large phone at 232 grams, it is easy to handle and less cumbersome compared to competitors like the Galaxy Ultra or iPhone Pro Max. However, its smooth metal frame makes it slightly slippery, so a case is recommended for safe handling.

The phone is available in three subtle colours in India: Moonstone (grey), Obsidian (black), and Jade (green). The finish is refined, with no uneven gaps between the frame and glass, a sturdy camera module, and well-crafted ports and buttons.

Display

The Pixel 10 Pro XL sports a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with superb color fidelity and HDR support. The default resolution is 1080p to save battery, but even at this setting, it delivers sharp text and vivid images. Watching 4K content is immersive, and the display produces deep, punchy visuals that rival top-tier smartphones.

Performance and Hardware

Powered by the Tensor G5 chipset, the Pixel 10 Pro XL provides smooth multitasking, faster app performance, and enhanced AI capabilities for photography and other features. The Indian variant comes with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, offering plenty of memory for most users.

Camera and Audio

The camera system continues Google’s tradition of excellence. Coupled with AI enhancements, it captures sharp, detailed images in a variety of lighting conditions. The stereo speakers are loud and clear, though slightly less powerful in bass compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Verdict

The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL may feel like “old wine in a new bottle,” but the Tensor G5 chipset, AI-powered features, and refined display make it a worthy upgrade, especially for users switching from older Pixel models or other Android devices.

Pros: Superb cameras, premium build, Android 16 & Gemini OS, excellent display
Cons: Limited storage, average battery life
