At IFA 2025 in Berlin, the spotlight was on wireless charging, as major brands unveiled the latest Qi 2 and Qi 2.2 charging solutions. With these new standards, charging speeds are set to increase dramatically, and several innovative accessories promise to make wireless charging faster and more convenient than ever.
Google Pixel Leads the Way
Ahead of IFA, Google introduced its latest Pixel smartphones, including the Pixel 10 Pro XL, which now supports Qi 2 and Qi 2.2 wireless charging. This upgrade puts Google on par with Apple’s MagSafe, offering stronger magnetic alignment and higher charging speeds. Qi 2.2 can deliver up to 25W of wireless power, compared to the older Qi 2.0 standard capped at 15W. The improved alignment ensures that phones stay securely in place while charging.
Belkin UltraCharge Magnetic Charger
Belkin was among the first to showcase a Qi 2.2 certified charging puck at IFA. Named the UltraCharge Magnetic Charger 25W, it supports full-speed wireless charging for compatible devices like the Pixel 10 Pro XL. This charger also features a built-in kickstand and passive cooling technology called ChillBoost to prevent overheating during extended use. The included cable is 2 meters long, and the charger is expected to launch in October 2025.
Other Notable Announcements
Beyond Belkin, accessory makers like Ugreen, Aukey, and Anker displayed a variety of Qi 2.2 charging solutions. These products aim to bring faster wireless charging to more devices while maintaining stability and safety. Belkin also announced a 75W car charger with a retractable USB-C cable, further expanding convenient charging options.
What This Means for Users
With Qi 2.2, users can enjoy significantly faster wireless charging, improved magnetic alignment, and innovative features in both home and car setups. As these accessories hit the market, high-speed wireless charging is set to become mainstream, providing a more seamless experience for smartphone users everywhere.
